The Digital Learning Commons in partnership with OSPI will be hosting an all day Digital Learning workshop on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Blackriver Training and Conference Center located at Puget Sound ESD in Renton. The day will consist of two concurrent workshops, one on Online Courses with a focus on serving students within your district, the other on Online Library and classroom resources with a focus on Powerful Teaching.

Travel reimbursement is provided for the first 40 registrations (up to $150 or as final budget allows based on state travel guidelines).

The day will consist of collaboration and discussion into how online learning and digital library tools are changing the shape of education here in Washington.

Although much of the work of the Digital Learning Commons was moved to OSPI, the DLC is still functioning in a limited capacity, including funding and hosting events like this. The conference will highlight select resources that are now available through the Digital Learning Department of OSPI.

If you are interested in presenting, please review our Call for Presenters.

About the Workshops

  • Online Courses: This group will look at how a district can use approved multi-district online providers to serve the students in their district. Workshops will consist of OSPI best practices presentations, user testimonials, group discussion, and a review of our new Model Online Learning Policy and Procedures. This workshop is for any school looking to create an effective online program to meet their students' needs.
  • Library and Online Resources: This group will learn how to use the DLD library databases and other online content resources to improve a traditional lesson based on Powerful Teaching & Learning concepts. Participants will use the DLD Bookmark and Pages tool to create an online lesson resource. We will provide sample lessons from various subject areas or you can feel free to bring a lesson of your own to update.
